Trees are an important part of the natural or composed formations of vegetation structure in urban areas and vil- lages. They perform a wide range of useful functions and services in relation to the environment but also human society. Many of the trees were planted in our cities as part of architectural styled, nowadays already as historical parks. Those that survived, currently reaching old age and oversized growth characteristics, many are registered as a protected trees of our natural and cultural heritage. Contribution evaluates relationship between trees and strong changed environment of the urban settements, including their methods and forms of qualitative assessment and criterions for the selection of appropriate trees species and cultivars in the urban landscape.
