The Pieniny National Park known by its rich genepool of plants and animals qualified to rocks, ruins, forests, gorges and brooks. Also man is the designer of the present scenery and attractiveness of this area. With different forms of land use are connected further rich plant and animal associations. Meadows and pastures prevail in agricultral land, their stock–taking is therefore an important base for evaluation of suitability of the present land use from the viewpoint of the national park. Taking into consideration the intensity of agricultural activity as the most important factor influencing their species composition and its stability, we may distinguish the following basic types: medium intensively utilized half–natural meadows and pastures, unutilized meadows and pastures (fallows) and intensively utilized (reclaimed) meadows and pastures (Map. 1). On the basis of the evaluation of the quality of biotic components of the Pieniny Mts. and the present state of land use we have established three categories of biological and landscape values of the area (Map. 2).
