Discusses a proposal for the protection of threatened gene resource of molluscs in the form of a network of gene resource areas in National Park Pieniny, Czechoslovakia. The 105 species that have been recorded were classified into 4 groups according to the degree of threat and population densities. Based on the suitability of habitats for the potential occurrence of the malacofauna, the territory has been divided into 4 categories: I - highly suitable areas. II - medium suitable areas, III - territories with islet-like occurrence, IV - unsuitable areas. This results in the proposal of 6 separated gene resource areas with 103 species.
