Concentrations of C, N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, B, Mo, Al, Si, Fe, Cu, Zn, Mn, Pb, Ni, Cr, Na, Ba, Sr, Cd were measured in samples of spruce needles, fine roots and soils (A0 horizon) at 3 distances from 2 smelteries in the Slovak Ore-Mountains. Emissions of SO2, As, Sb, and metals affected the needle loss of spruce in area around 20 km.
