Indirect methods are based on analysis and interpretation of land use types, presence and state of protected areas, condition of environmental media and neighbourhoood effects. The direct registration of biotic landscape components contains floristical and faunistical mapping, the record of actual vegetation, biotope mapping and interpretation of synecological research (ecological demands of species like habitat bonding, minimal areas etc). Derived features are rarity, endangering, naturalness, hemeroby, diversity, isolation, connectivity, stability, ecological and protective value. Examples from test areas near Dresden are shown.
