Current contents is the most important journal for the flow of information in all sciences. It brings data on agronomy, biology, ecology and environmental sciences from more than 900 journals of the world (see Table 1). The greatest number of journals is being published in the USA, in the United Kingdom, in Germany and in the Netherlands. A smaller number of journals belongs to the Romance speaking countries such as Italy, Spain, Portugal, Brazil and others. The paper is intended to present the problem of a low number of papers published in Russia and the former Soviet Union.
