The analysis of influence of selected environmental factors on tall-forb and tall-grass communities of the order Calamagrostietalia villosae in the subalpine and alpine belts of the High Tatra Mountains by canonical ordination was done in the present study.Significant correlations exist between the Ist axis of canonical ordination and altitude and between the 2nd axis and soil depth. Also the percentage cover of bryophytes is positively correlated with the Ist and 2nd ordination axes. The evaluation of mean soil depth among the investigated communities processed by the analysis of variance shows significant differences among all communities.
