Ceder pine (Pinus cembra) and dwarf pine (Pinus mugo) are high-mountain tree species occurring in the Belianske Tatry Mts in the area of their natural distribution. Their distribution is the result of interaction of natural abiotic and biotic factors. Geological substratum, relief and climatological conditions of the Belianske Tatry Mts determine and limit the occurrence of single elements of flora and vegetation and it is fully valid for the distribution of these two tree species and their stands. Except of natural abiotic and biotic factors also man had and has a significant influence on the present distribution of ceder-pine and dwarf pine. Especially his activities in this high-mountain environment reflected on the overall presentation of single species and closeness, extent and degree of damage of their stands. Man significantly influenced the upper border of the distribution of these tree species, proportion of their representation in forest stands as well as their state of health.
